These necklaces feature an authentic New Orleans vintage bottle as their centerpiece.
The bottles are dug up in New Orleans, rescued from the household refuse heaps and privies of yesteryear before municipal
dumps came into being. Victoria selects the choicest bottles and lovingly cleans them thoroughly – many still retain
a lovely fire patina they acquired when their previous owners tried to burn them with the rest of the trash. She then adorns
these vestiges of a bygone era with chain, ribbon, jewelry pieces, and other relevant fragments to create a necklace that
is truly original – no two necklaces are the same.
If you look closely at each necklace, you may find images
from your favorite NOLA restaurant or bar, religious artifacts, hints of voodoo and the darker arts, or a social statement
hidden among the various aspects of the piece. There is truly something for everyone, from the King Cake Baby with the skull
head chained to the bottle– created in true Dr. Frankenstein form – to the Silk and Pearl piece that might remind
you of something your grandmother wore when you were a child.
Victoria is currently selling a selection of the
Bottle Necklace Collection in the French Quarter of New Orleans, exclusively at Greg’s Antiques on Decatur Street. Bottle
